The Fine Print **

Participants cannot recieve more than $5,000 per property. Rebates for toilets and urinals are provided for commercial, industrial and institutional water customers only; rebates for clothes washers are provided for for commercial, industrial and institutional water customers as well as multi-family residential customers retrofitting washers in common laundray areas; no rebates are given to single-family residential dwellings. Fixtures must be purchased after the start date of the program (January 1, 2004) and installed in a business within Santa Barbara County. In addition, participants must be replacing higher water use devices with new, water-efficient ones. (Click here for instructions on how to determine if your current toilet is water-efficient.) Rebates are for retrofits only, not for new instllations adding water using devices to the facility. Installation of the devices is the participant's responsibility, and verification of installation may be conducted through a visual on-sight inspection.

Upon installation, your water provider may track water savings on your account as a requirement of the grant funding made availalbe to support this program. Water usage numbers will be tracked for a period of 3 years following installation. Usage data and account numbers are confidential and only usage numbers will be released to the state.

The City of Lompoc offers additional rebates for customers and has strict guidelines that differ from those listed for this program. If you wish to receive a rebate from the City of Lompoc, please call Mary Kammer at 875-8298 for instructions.

** NOTE: This program is SUSPENDED, pending State funding

Santa Barbara County’s Save Water Save a Buck commercial rebate program is being suspended effective July 1, 2009.  Continuation of the County-wide program will depend on whether a State grant continues to help subsidize the rebates.  The program was originally scheduled to end in June 2008, but was extended through June 2009 when California’s Department of Water Resources extended its existing grant to the County.  We are awaiting a DWR decision as to whether the grant program will be extended into the new fiscal year which starts on July 1, 2009.

Please check back to see whether the program is continued, terminated, or modified.  Thanks for your interest in water efficiency in the business sector!
