Dara Emery Memorial Lecture

This October, as planting season begins, Greg Rubin, well-known landscaper and author will be the featured speaker at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden's annual Dara Emery Lecture. Rubin, President and founder of California's Own Native Landscape Design, based in San Diego, has been working with native California plants since 1985. Rubin has over 700 native landscape installations to his credit, including the Del Mar Thoroughbred racetrack infield remodel and an all-native Japanese Garden for the San Diego Botanic Garden for which he won nine awards.

His 2013 "The California Native Landscape, The Homeowner's Design Guide to Restoring Its Beauty and Balance," is already a classic, co-authored with Lucy Warren. The team released a new book last year, "The Drought Defying Californian Garden."

This rare Santa Barbara appearance is a chance to see some of Rubin's many beautiful garden designs and to share of little of his inspirations. Refreshments will be served at 4pm in the Garden's courtyard with lecture and slide show to follow.
